Grapevines
My father used those grapes every year for making wine. I never did find out if the vines were brought from Sicily or not.
If you are from Madison, Wi you can go to the botanical garden and they have the same kind of tressel with vines that came from Sicilywell over 100 years ago. It was not uncommon to bring vines to the united states.
I remember sitting outside in the backyard of grandpa and grandma’s house on montague street. When you walked out the backdoor there were 2 levels to the backyard. You walked outside and walked down a small set of steps to the lower half.

When you walked down the steps you walked under wooden trellace filled with grapevines. In the fall when the red grapes were ripe I would pick some grapes and then sit on the steps and eat them…seeds and all. I remember a time or two sitting with Sam doing the same thing. They tasted so good.
