What does it mean to “wander” this website?

Here is my intention for this wander section of the website. There is a lot of information about family, genealogy, history, culture and travel in most of this site. It is organized in a way you would read a book. A history book. How many history books have you read? Plus who reads any books these day.

My grandchildren introduced me to “GRAPHIC NOVELS” I describe graphic novels as an idea of a guy who grew up in the 1950’s, now rewriting all the famous books into a Mad Magazine format. And now instead of having to hide your mad magzine as you were reading, these new “graphic novels” are being recommended by teachers and parents.

So “Just Wandering” is a bunch of – short 1 page pieces – of this website. Chapter 1 (Wander 1) is made of a bunch of sicilian related topics. Each topic is totally different from the next, other than it is related to Sicily.

You do not have to read all of Wander 1. You do not have to read Wander 1 in any specific order. You do not have to start with Wander 1 you can start with Wander 2 or 3 or 4. The only common of any of it is Sicly. But maybe it sparks more interest than going through our ancestors family tree or reading your ancestor profile.

What is the purpose for wander section?

I do not want to burst your bubble, but the intent of the website is for our children, grandchildren and their children. The intent is to learn, some small or if they want large, bit about our family, families culture, stories, history, etc.

The random pages in the Wander section of this website will provide a different way of looking at the same thing and in a different style maybe more conducive to a kid like i was growing up.

I liked Mad Magazine. It was definitely NOT the socially accepted magazine for kids. Today it is called a graphic novel. When i was in school I could never sit still for very long. I just was not meant to learn by sitting and listening for 50 minutes and then repeat that 5 – 6 times per day. I spent quite a bit time sitting in the hallway at a desk, looking or reading the book in a way that fit me. Oh! I also did a little wandering along the way myself. I hope the wandering section is the – desk in the hallway – for some of our family.
